Performance
Power for the 2016 MDX is provided by a 3.5 Liter V-6 Honda engine that generates a beefy 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. The power is routed through an all-new nine-speed automatic transmission to the option of the standard two-wheel front-drive version, or to all four wheels in the all-wheel-drive upgrade. At highway cruising speed, the variable cylinder management system allows the engine to operate on only three cylinders for increased fuel efficiency. The all-wheel-drive version gets an EPA estimated 19 miles-per-gallon* in the city while highway mileage comes in at 26 miles-per-gallon*. The two wheel drive version comes in at 20/city and 27/highway* for a combined mileage of 23 miles-per-gallon*. The ride of the MDX is best summed up as just firm enough with all the smoothness that is common to an Acura vehicle.
Styling
The MDX interior is all about the tasteful luxury we've come to expect in a vehicle produced by Acura. A tasteful combination of leather and wood highlights envelopes the driver and passengers in a decidedly upscale environment, and the seats are as comfortable as ever. The third-row fold-down seats more than double the rear cargo area allowing for a variety of storage situations.
The exterior styling is a combination of high-tech Jewel Eye LED headlights, a tastefully aggressive profile, and distinctive grill work up front. The flowing lines of the MDX make it a real eye-catcher whether it's on the highway or in the driveway.
Features
The MDX comes with a lane keeping assist feature that prevents the vehicle from changing lanes when the turn signal isn't engaged. It also comes with adaptive cruise-control that automatically maintains a set interval with a vehicle traveling in front of the MDX. The interactive touch-control media display screen allows for the control of several systems, and the rear backup camera comes through in high-resolution clarity.
Safety
The MDX comes with a seven-airbag system to protect the driver and passengers. The anti-lock brakes also come with brake-assist and electronic brake-distribution to insure a stable and safe stopping action. Front and rear crumple zones and a reinforced cabin structure keeps occupants safe in the event of a high-speed crash.
