 What's Different About 2017 Acura TLX GT Package?

A comparatively new entry into the midsize luxury sedan market, the Acura TLX enters its third model year in 2017, with no major changes. New for 2017 is the GT Package, which transforms the TLX into a sports-style sedan: with a rear decklid spoiler, and front, side, and rear underbody spoilers. You also have the option of completing the race track-inspired look by adding 19-inch Diamond Cut alloy wheels and tires. The 2017 Acura TLX GT can be purchased as a Standard, Technology Package (Tech), or Advanced Package (Advanced) trim combination.

The Standard and Tech models are powered by a 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder (I4) engine that delivers 206 horsepower and 182 lb-ft of torque. The Advanced stands out with a 3.5-liter V6 with 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque that promotes fuel efficiency by running on half of its cylinders in certain driving situations. The standard drivetrain is the Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS) system, which is reputed to be the first production all-wheel steer system that enables the rear wheels to adjust to angles independently. The TLX GT gearbox is either an 8-speed (I4) or 9-speed (V6) automatic transmission with paddle shifters for more driver control over gear shifting; the 9-speed in particular replaces the traditional shift knob with a button-control panel called the electronic gear selector. The V6 allows for swapping P-AWS with the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system for ultimate sport handling and much improved driving performance.

Seating up to five people, the 2017 TLX GT has sports seats trimmed with leatherette on the Standard and perforated Milano leather on the other models. Front seating consists of a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support and a passenger seat that has 4-way power adjustability on the Standard and 8-way power on the Tech and Advanced. Heated front seats also have cooling capability on the top-level Advanced. At the back is a bench-style seat that can be folded to expand cargo space. Comfort and convenience features include cruise control, dual-zone automatic control, keyless access with smart entry and push-button ignition, Bluetooth technology, auto-dimming rearview mirror, HomeLink for remote-controlling garage doors, and a seven-speaker stereo system with a multi-information display. Upgrade to the Tech to add features like a navigation system, voice recognition, and a GPS-monitored HVAC system. The Advanced Package stands apart with its adaptive cruise control and remote vehicle start system. Features like four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, electronic vehicle stability with traction control, a multi-view rear camera with dynamic guidelines, and a sophisticated airbag system that includes a driver’s knee airbag provide safety on the vehicle. Upgrade to the Tech to add forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. And upgrade to the Advanced to add lane keep assist, road departure mitigation, and front and rear parking sensors.
